Can a centerfire rifle discharge as you fill the magazine with bullets?

Asking on behalf of my dad…here in NYS, they just legalized hunting deer with rifles in the two counties that we hunt in. He got a 30-30 last winter, and has been shooting it. He comments that as he fills the magazine with extra bullets, he has to push really hard with the bullet as he pushes it into the magazine. Coincidentally, he’s pushing on a bullet already into the magazine. Now with shotgun shells, the end opposite the primer is flat. With his new rifle cartridges, they have a pointy tip. He knows that if it were a common occurence, they wouldn’t sell/design the gun magazines like that.

So, how much force do you need to set off a centerfire cartridge like that? No where near the force used to push one bullet with another bullet further into the magazine right?

Also, caliber is the diameter of the gun barrel in thousands of an inch, right? Or mm? Just for my own sake. Tx!

I’ve never heard of a Win. 94 lever gun going off while using proper round-nose bullets in loading. If you want better ammo, try the new Hornady LeveRevolution .30/30 that uses soft plastic bullet noses to allow a sharper bullet profile and better ballistics. The .30/30 bullet is nominally .308 inches in diameter. There are cases of cartridges going off in the magazine tube if one uses handloaded pointed bullets and soft primers. That is why loads designed for tubular mag rifles (mostly lever action like Winchester or Marlin) usually have rounded or flat point bullet profiles.

How does one get their photography into magazines?

I know some photographers actually work for specific magazines, but I also know that freelancers provide photos as well. How do you get your pictures into magazines? Do you just send them in and hope for the best?

More specifically nature type, such as fly fishing magazines.

Get hold of the “freelance photographers handbook” in the UK or the equivalent in the US.

These have details of virtually all publishers/mags etc and how to submit.

basically, you need to submit them to the picture editor with covering letter etc.
If they want to use them then they will contact you and you then agree terms.
Alternatively, submit to stock libraries.

Make sure you study the magazines you plan to submit to before doing anything and ensure you only submit the type and style of shots they are likely to use.

Stand by for a lot of rejections and no responses though as these people get hundreds of submissions a day.

please help! you can name only one if you want!
it cant be people like Evil Kenevil though, which is why this is hard :(

Reinhold Messner (Italy) and Peter Habeler (Austria) who made the first ascent of the Everest without supplemental oxygen.

Carlos Coste and Tanya Streeter, two world record holders for diving in apnea (without oxygen)

What are my chances of getting into American University?

Okay this is my first choice and I really want to go here but I’m a little concerned that I won’t get in.
For my SAT’s I got 570 on reading 530 on math and 540 on writing (yes I know that’s low compared to their averages) but I have a 4.3 wieghted and 3.6 unweighted GPA. I’m also very involved in Beta Club, National Honors Society, Girl Scouts, Literary Magazine, Show Choir, Co-captain of color guard, and I’ve taken 4 AP classes and nearly all my core classes (and some electives) have been honors level throughout my entire high school career. I’ve even taken 5 years of Spanish and Math, 4years of science(3 Lab sciences). I’m also taking SAT subject tests in world history and liturature.

So-What’s your opinion? I know it’s not the easiest school to get into but…

Your 3.6 unweighted GPA. is slightly below the 3.79 average of enrolled freshmen and your SAT scores are significantly below the average SAT scores of enrolled freshmen.

More in formation is below.
