co hiking trails Today at Walmart I saw a guy with shorts over black?
leggings (I think they were Underarmor Coldgear or some other athletic type like that), and a sweatshirt. It didn’t look bad to me but it seems unusual for a guy off his bike or hiking trail. This was just regular casual streetwear. Would you guys do this if it became more common ? I saw this in Denver, CO.
No I used to see this a lot on the West Coast back in the 90’s. It just kind of surprised me to see it now.
It’s walmart,
I wouldn’t dwell on his fashion choices there.
What to do in Summit County September 17 to 21?
I'll stay in Dillon, CO this weekend and I am a bit disappointed to learn that most Summer activities have closed their doors in all the ski resorts. I'm looking into renting a Jeep and 4×4 drive certain routes, hiking, mountain biking Winter Park, and hit the Blackhawk Casino Bar. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do in Summit County or near at this time of year? Any suggestions on which roads to take the jeep or on foot would be good too. I'm looking for something very colorful, a little difficult or easy would be good.

It is a question for those who have been in the Blue Lake camp before?
Michigan. Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. I went the year past and had a blast. I still have this year, but injured my knee and I do not know if a lot of walking will be possible. As one of the bikes is not so much pressure on my knees, I was wondering if like a truck, which could bring my bike to Blue Lake to use for forward or backward in my classes. What do you think you?
mountains trails Hi, I want to Hike the white mountains and i need help finding the right information about trails and the hike?
I have been to the states for almost three years now, and i want to go hiking in the white mountains, maybe do the Appalachian trail. but i want to do it for the first time for only two days, and i want to know how can i find a camping ground with tents, i prefer if it can be free? because all i could find is location that charge money for hiking the nature.
what i was trying to ask was not free tents, but free camping grounds- places to stop for the night, where i wont be eaten by wolves of bears. i dont know what is walking those mountains.
and another thing i was wondering about was how about parking the car? are there any nice trails which will take me in a fairly large circle back to the parking? or to a place where i can get back to my car?
There are 8 free shelters on the NH stretch of the AT from the point that the AT crosses the Connecticut River to Franconia Notch SP >a distance of 69.4 miles
There are 25 free shelters on the VT stretch of the AT from the MA/VT line to the Connecticut River & the VT/NH line a distance of 137 miles
Shelters are on a first come first serve basis But if you do this hike in the next week or so I doubt if you’ll have problem getting shelter space
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy guide books for the AT are really detailed.
I got those mile figures from my copy of the Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers Companion>2008 edition
The Appalachian Mountain Club is the other source of great info for hikes in WMNF

>>Update:
There is a very specific reason that I ended my list of NH AT shelters where I did at Franconia Notch SP\
The reason is that that from that point and North on the AT you start getting yourself up above timberline and into the really nasty weather that the Whites are infamous for
Your greatest danger in hiking the Whites is not the wolves that I’ve neither seen nor heard nor the bears that I’ve only heard But rather the really nasty weather which almost literally ended my life once .My C.O.D would have been hypothermia
WMNF is the hikers paradise in the Northeast and it’s not unusual at all to see hikers thumbing rides to and and from the various trailheads
Get the AMC guidebooks and pick out some cool loop hikes to do
