bsa boy scouts Boy Scouts of America: It’s been 100 years. When will the bigotry end?
I love the wonderful things the BSA does for youngsters – especially the leadership, the self-reliance and outdoor skills, the fostering of appreciation for the environment, and MOST of its oath.
I also have many wonderful friends and relatives who are atheist, agnostic, humanist, and homosexual. They are kind, resourceful, charitable, hardworking individuals who love their families and do a lot for their communities. Two of them devote their entire careers to non-profit organizations, and all of them possess high moral character that sets them apart from the many more people I know whose views of religion and sexual preference are wrought with intolerance and bigotry.
BSA is clear that these people can never be the “best kind” of citizen and that homosexual conduct is not “morally straight” and therefore not allowed in anyone connected with the BSA.
What’s your opinion on this 100th year anniversary of the BSA? Will it wake up and end its bigotry in our lifetime? Ever?
Uhhh, never. Why does this surprise you? Humans have had millions of years to get their acts together. I am sorry my friend, but it will be this way forever. There will always be mass poverty, racism and judgmental people. Why should anything change in your lifetime?
