I need a gear list for Yosemite Housekeeping Camp.?

The last time I stayed at Yosemite Housekeeping Camp was 25 years ago when I was a kid. I need a good gear list to bring. Can anyone recommend some items?

Stick with the same list. Just adjust it for your ADULT age. I just went back to the valley last month after not being there for 25 years also. Some things have improved but for the most part have stayed the same. My muscles hurt a lot more! I did the Half dome climb in one day and felt the burn for 8 days after but it sure was worth it! I noticed that the wild life in the valley sky rocketed due to the drought conditions. So be aware of the high numbers of bear roaming camping and parking areas looking for treats to fatten up on for the winter.

Is Paris the most beautiful city in the world or yet another traffic-filled dump of rude, selfish people?

I’ve been there many times, on my hitch-hiking travels thru Europe, and the French hate it too! But is that just because everyone hates their own backyard?? What do *you* think? How do *you* feel?

Paris is both.

When you live in or near Paris, you generally both hate it and love it.
I do.

I hate the trafic, especially the guys that park their SUV anywhere, the agressive and selfish behaviours of some parisians, the tramps that pee everywhere, the dog owners, the arrogant youths from the “banlieues”, the constant works on buildings and streets.

But when I roam the quays of the Seine on a warm Summer night with my tripod and camera, looking for sights, I really enjoy Paris and I feel I am surrounded by people feeling the same way and having a great time. Night hides the ugliest aspects of the city, leaving only gorgeous buildings beautifully lit and reflected on the Seine which is covered by boats full of people partying.

Millions of people visiting Paris every year can’t all be wrong.

Climbing Mont Blanc………………….?

Hey! I got a few questions….
This year or the next i hope to climb Mont Blanc on my travels…
I love mountains, however im not an experienced climber, im in good shape, Healthy, im 18, British, i can run 10 miles without stopping and love rambling (Hiking)! I bloody love the outdoors!
I know its the highest peak in Western Europe… apparently i will have to spend at least a day up there to stop altitude sickness… Is there a tour i can go with…. Ill probably be going alone, however have no problem rambling with others to the peak, if i go with a tour, how much would it cost? :]
How many days would it take to get from the top to the bottom?

Thanks, tell me anything you know :]

There’s two main routes to the Mont Blanc. One is from the bottom, from Chamonix, and requires some knowledge and ice walking skills. The other is from the Aiguille du Midi. You climb to the top with the cabin car and then you walk to the top of the Mont Blanc. That one is a real motorway, with groups every 20 minutes or so. You still need to in good shape. The Chamonix guides do not offer the second option by the way. And you need to check if this is still allowed as it can change from one year to the other.
What you could do is take a five days training, which ends with a climb of the Mont Blanc. The first three days is for training, the last two for the Mont Blanc (you do most of the way the first day, sleep in a refuge and finish the climb the next morning and go back down the same day). You will have one guide for two people. Price is actually 900 Euros not including the hotel in Chamonix.
I didn’t climb the Mont Blanc (weather problems) but climbed a few other routes in that valley. Well worth it. But do NOT attempt it alone, or without a guide unless you are professional level yourself. The emergency relief people are tired of picking up lost, broken or dead bodies every year.

(And if you go alone and need help you will be required to pay for the whole rescue, which can add up to ten of thousands of Euros).
